Oxford to Istanbul (via Loch Ness) on a Dutch Barge

Is it possible to take a Dutch Barge from Oxford to the Black Sea, and pull up for dinner at one of those wonderful restaurants on the Bosphorous?

We had no idea. So we decided to find out! And if anything happened on the way that could be considered remotely interesting or useful we thought we’d share a note of it.
